This years season finale ended with a bang on Sept.17+18th as 57 teams out of 95 qualified to fish this years $19,600. championship at Lake Chautauqua in NY. We had great weather with partly cloudy and warm conditions on day 1 and foggy to hot/sunny conditionson day 2.  Water temp was at 70 degrees. There were no surprises this year as the top 4 in points made up thetop 4 at the championship.    What's surprising is the number of women entering the competitive ranks.  Wehave a good mix of Father/Son teams, Husband/Wife teams, even Grandfather/Grandson teams.  Above, picture of Barb Foys from Clinton with a 4.28lb smallmouth that was good for 3rd big bass day 2 of the event, and Joni Dixon with a couple of bass that helped her team to finish in 3rd place.  Also a photo of the top 3 teams L to R: Nick Prvonozac 2nd place and Big Bass of the event at 5.83lb, Tom and LanceGunter 1st place, and Ron and Joni Dixon 3rd place.

A total of 383 bass were weighed for a total weight of 751.56lb.  An average of 1.96lb per bass.  Not a bad average.  Many reported releasing their bass beforeweighing on day 2 after falling out of contention. The majority of anglers caught a 5 bass limit each day but the winners had a big fish or two in the mix to rise above the rest.  Winning patterns includedfishing deep weeds with topwater baits, spinner baits, and texas rigged worms.  Many teams fared wellflipping docks with tube baits and senkos.  Everyone had a good time and decided to go back there next year
for our finale.
