In the 9 year history of the Lakes Trail, this by far was the best weigh-in ever! Suffice to say that for nearly 30 years of running and following events held here at Portage, I can't recall anything like this. What a great day! 93 teams participated. Event paid 13 places and 3 big bass prizes. There was 37-6 bass limits weighed, 18 teams weighed in at over 10lbs, 31 teams weighed in at over 9lb. 382 bass were weighed, 380 were treated and released alive for a Total Weight of 629.49lb. This shatters last years record setting event at Mosquito at 541lbs. The guys worked hard to get these fish weighed quickly and back in the water. I appreciate all those who gave their fish oxygen and used the tanks while waiting. It all helps! Here is the top 5 teams and Big Bass:
1st- Steve Hatfield and Mark McQuate from Mifflin, Ashland 18.24lb $1000.
2nd- Houston Hooper and Steve Sigmund from Canton, Akron 14.14lb $800.
3rd- Scott Stevens and AJ Pratt both of Kent 13.52lb $600.
4th- Steve Browning and Rick Machonachy from Doylestown, Akron 13.03lb. $500.
5th- Jacob Hout and Jeff Koerner from Hartville,Clinton 12.92lb. $450.
Big Bass was Mark McQuate from Ashland 4.82lb $1000.
